Over the years, the Salem Academy Robotics teams has led many 4-day STEAM camps in Buxton, NC on Cape Hatteras Island. Members of both the Sisters of the Motherboard/Code Sisters Robotics teams lead a co-ed STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) themed summer camp for about 40 elementary school children normally. Throughout the week the Sisters are able to teach the children about science and math by doing fun experiments. The campers love the activities, and they really enjoy getting to know their group leaders, the robotics team members. The children attending the camps are able to learn about STEM concepts through many fun projects and activities. In addition to all the great fun the Sisters have with the campers, they are also to have some team bonding activities of their own which have included: time at the beach, a trip to Ocracoke Island, and going parasailing in the past. The experience represented a memorable week, and a fantastic way to end the summer.
